An update at last!

Well humph, it's been a while. Things have been going very well for our little man lately. We went back to the pediatrician and got new medicine for his acid reflux that is working excellently making everyone happy. I have come to the conclusion that there is no such thing as "colic" and really little babies have digestive problems like food sensitivities and acid reflux that doctors just label "colic" and pretend they can't fix. Certainly there was a time when the cause of inconsolable crying was a mystery but really I have come to the conclusion that no baby should cry for hours at night without relief. If we had stayed with out first pediatrician I guarantee you that Gideon would not be the smiley, well rested boy that he is today. It really is amazing to think that the little baby who wailed and whimpered in pain nightly is the same child who smiles at us as we lay him in his crib at night. Thank god for good doctors.

Easter was big fun, the bunny came and gave Gideon a giant rabbit of his very own and even brought some Reece's eggs for daddy. Grandma and Grandpa Mathis gave Gideon a bunny with moving ears, Grandma and Grandpa Adams framed a picture of Gideon with his Yoda, and Grandma and Grandpa Edwards made up a whole Easter basket for our lucky little guy, complete with toys, stuffed animals, books and clothes. This kid is definitely spoiled rotten! We werer also spoiled rotten by good food at every stop and Giddy even took his naps on time.

I have been doing my best lately to work with Gideon on healthy eating and sleeping habits. He is no longer swaddled and only occasionally uses his paci (and only in bed). My ADD means that I either have a routine or spend the day staring at the wall so for now we have a schedule that allows for reading time, naked time, toy time, mommy time, mat time and 4 nap times. Over the next couple of weeks we are going to work it down to 3 naps and by a year I hope to be down to 2 naps. Over the last couple of weeks Gideon has gone from long arm sweeps that hopefully snag a toy or person to more precise movements, grabbing what he wants (sometimes after a few tries) and even switching a toy from one hand to the other (but not with great speed). Tummy time is still not our friend but we are trying and hopefully we will be rolling soon! I am both excited and depressed about rolling and sitting up. I can't wait to watch him grow but I don't want him to grow too fast!
